Being an avid hobby photographer, I combine my passion for photography and my love for drawing, which results in art that I call my own from the process of taking the photo all the way to the final pencil stroke.

Growing up in Germany, in my early years I restricted myself to drawing people, trying to capture images in as much detail as possible. I preferred using pencils over other techniques as it allowed me to copy even the smallest details and it proved to be less messy than other creative media. I emigrated to New Zealand in 1990, where I continued to draw pictures mainly for fun and the odd commission for family and friends. After a prolonged hiatus from drawing between the years 2000 and 2010 I rediscovered my passion for art and I haven’t stopped since. By then I developed a love for all things that nature provides, from landscapes to all kinds of animals.

Eventually I joined The Titirangi Painters Arts club, with the annual winter exhibition being the highlight of their activities. Since then I entered various art competitions and art sales at different venues in New Zealand with increasing success and recognition, resulting in frequent sales and several awards.

More recently I relocated into the Tasman and Nelson area where I have started to exhibit in various galleries.

The pencils of my choice are Faber-Castell Polychromos and Caran D’Ache Pablos.
